A FINE AMERICAN TOLEWARE CANISTER TOGETHER WITH A DOMED DOCUMENT BOX. Circa 1850. The canister of cylindrical form with hinged lid, paint-decorated overall with stylized floral sprays. The domed box decorated with strawberries, flowerheads, and leafy sprays. Each with a ringed handle. SIZE: First: 8-1/2″ h. x 8-3/4″ dia. Second: 6″ h. x 9-1/2″ l. x 5-3/4″ d. CONDITION: The first with original surfaces and crackling, with some flaking paint loss, rubbing, and rust, overall good condition. The second example with original painted surfaces and vibrant colors beneath alligatored surface, paint chips and flakes right front corner facing and rear of box; otherwise very good condition. 9-90833 (1,500-2,500)
