OUTSTANDING CARVED AND INLAID FOUR STRING BANJO BY VEGA. “Artist” model, Serial #78151, made in Boston, Mass. The banjo having a figured, carved neck with leaf motif, line inlaid with ebony/rosewood. Four Mother of Pearl thumbscrews, a back resonator in eight matching veneer sections outlined in dark line inlay. The neck having Mother of Pearl inlay all the way through the top shaped section. Housed in a green velvet lined case. PROVENANCE: This banjo was used by Ralph Pooler of Maine in the 1920’s and 1930’s as he toured the Northeast in a small band. SIZE: Neck 25”, Overall 37”.
