GEORGE M HATHAWAY (American, 1852-1903) “BATTLESHIP ILLINOIS”. Oil on board scene shows the white hulled double stacked battleship going right to left through choppy green ocean. Five men are seen on deck and schooner is seen off bow. Signed lower right “G M Hathaway”. The battleship was built in 1898 at Newport News, Virginia. Housed in a gold gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 11-1/2” x 17-1/2”. CONDITION: Very good, minor inpainting. 9-27130 (1,500-2,500)
