ROBERT SALMON (American, 1775-1858) FISHING PARTY BEACHING A BOAT. Oil on panel scene shows four men pulling boat onto beach. Several men bring large buckets of fish up to clearing in front of rock outcropping with large passageway. Two sails are seen in distance along a rocky shoreline. Sun from right side casts a pink hue on the clouds that are present. Signed on reverse “Painted by R. Salmon 1804”. There are also numbers “No. 37” and “#53”. Faintly signed lower right. PROVENANCE: Richard Bourne Auction 11/29/69 lot #248. SIZE: 12” x 16”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-26946 (8,000-12,000)
