EXTREMELY RARE EARLY 18TH CENTURY BRASS HORN BOOK. The brass tablet with top tab has hanging hole. The alphabet in capital letters are in seven rows. On the back is written “St Pauls Infant School AD. 1729”. This horn book was found in a dump near the corner of Pond St. in Marblehead, Massachusetts. An exact duplicate is in the Boston Public Library Collection. A photocopy of the newspaper article from the Marblehead Messenger Friday September 9, 1927 is included. The article has this piece pictured with a long descriptive article about its origin and history. PROVENANCE: Directly consigned from the discoverer of this piece. SIZE: 5” x 2-1/2” without 3/4” tab.
