FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY TALL CASE CLOCK, PROBABLY NEW JERSEY. The arch molded hood below conforming scrolled cresting with brass terminals centering three ball finials, the center with displayed eagle above an astagal glazed door flanked by fluted colonettes and unusual brass stop fluting. Painted enameled moon-phase dial with pink rose spandrels centering an Arabic and Roman Numeral chapter ring. Dial centered with a sweep second hand and calendar aperture. Eight day brass works with iron plate stamped “Wilson”, probably Thomas Wilson, London, 1790-1825. Waisted case fitted with rectangular door with molded edges and string inlay flanked by engaged fluted quarter columns with brass capitals and brass stop fluting above a molded box base raised on flared French feet with shaped apron. Circa 1815. Clock with two door keys, winder, both weights and pendulum. SIZE: 90″ h x 13-1/2″ throat w x 9″ d. PROVENANCE: Accompanied by a Bill of Sale dated September 20th, 1904 at which time it was purchased by the family of the current owner from a Mr. Elmer Bell of Orange, NJ. CONDITION: Very fine condition with original clean surfaces. Works last cleaned in 1998 and was in working order at the time the clock was removed from premises.
