18TH OR EARLY 19TH CENTURY RUSH OR CANING VISE. The vise with screw-down wooden clamps on either side is supported on four lathe turned legs with stretcher base. The clamps were used to hold the rush or cane while working the seats or backs of early chairs, constructed with early hand forged nails. SIZE: Approximately 34” h x 20” w at its widest point on the base, and 15” d at its deepest point on the base. CONDITION: Old patina surface, generally very good condition. 9-96946 (275-475)
