FANTASTIC SHIP DIORAMA OF THE CORSAIR. Large shadowbox walnut frame with gold liner has painted backdrop scene of what appears to be New York Harbor with buildings and fort with American flag. The steam yacht Corsair is seen on molded blue water. Fine carved eagle figurehead, wrapped sails, cutout paper figures, two lifeboats and two-masts each flying pennants. One with the name of the yacht, the other the New York Yacht Club. The Corsair was owned by millionaire J.P. Morgan and was built at the height of the yachting craze in the early part of this century. SIZE: Frame 29” h x 36-1/2” w x 6” d. CONDITION: Some restoration to backdrop, otherwise very good. 9-95809 (5,000-6,000)
