RANSOME GILLETE HOLDREDGE (American, 1836-1899) “ENVIRONS OF GREZ-FRANCE”. Oil on canvas summer scene shows a dirt path lined by grassy fields and tall trees. Two women are resting at the edge in shade with a small cart. A town is seen beyond under blue and small cloud sky. Signed lower left. Titled, signed and dated “1878” on reverse. Housed in a gilt molded wood frame which has a JH Miller Co.” label. PROVENANCE: Ex- Collection of Amherst College, Massachusetts. SIZE: 27” x 22”.
