ASSEMBLED SWORD. 34-1/4” triple fuller Germanic blade with unreadable inscription in the gutters. The silver hilt is unmarked but appears to be Germanic with double langets and knight’s head pommel. Wooden hilt was wrapped with silver wire but 3/4 of that is now missing. The leather scabbard has a fancy cutout leather tip and a tar covered throat with brass tacks. A faded red sash is wrapped around the upper part of the scabbard. CONDITION: Light to moderate pitting on the blade with signs of cleaning closer to the hilt. The outer branch of the guard and quillon are bent. The remaining wire is loose. Scabbard has some losses on the reverse but is still reasonably sound. The sash is tattered. 4-49318 X35 (500-1,000)
