LOUIS XVI STYLE PARQUETRY MARBLE TOP COMMODE. Circa 1890. The rectangular white marble top with molded edges and turret corners above the conforming case, fitted with three aligned short drawers over two long drawers flanked by engaged three-quarter columns, headed by ormolu mounts raised on tapered cylindrical legs with brass capitals and sabots. The whole with crossbanded and diagonal striped outlines, centering inlaid diagonal panels, the pilasters and columns with parquetry striping. SIZE: 35-1/2″ h. x 49″ w. x 23″ d. CONDITION: The commode appears completely original including ormolu mounts and brasses, the marble original with minor chips on edges, small shrinkage within expected parameters. 9-91313 (1,000-2,000)
