PHILADELPHIA CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIR. Circa 1780. The shaped crest rail with outswept ears above the upward flaring splat pierced to four ribs joined to the molded trapezoidal seat rail fitted with slip seat, raised on frontal molded and chamfered legs, the rear legs tenoned, joined by a recessed box stretcher. SIZE: 38-1/2″ h. of back x 17″ h. of seat. CONDITION: Retains old clean surface with professional repair to proper left seat rail at stile, ends of four legs patched (suspect chair was converted from invalid chair). 9-91824 (500-800)
