WALDO PEIRCE (American, 1884-1970) “JACK NICKOLAUS WINNING THE MASTERS”. Large oil on canvas scene shows Jack Nickolaus holing a put on the 18th green at Augusta for the win at the 1966 Masters. He and his caddy jump up in celebration as Jack throws the golf ball to the caddy. A large crowd is seen amongst the pines. Signed lower right “W.P. 66”. Inscribed lower left “For Johnny” (Waldo’s son). Back of canvas has title, signature and also “Belongs to John W. Peirce”. Housed in a simple wood frame. Partial old exhibit label on back. PROVENANCE: Consigned directly from the artist’s family. SIZE: 26” x 47”. CONDITION: Canvas is intact. There are several areas of uplifted flaking paint with some missing areas.
