SCRIMSHAWED WHALE TOOTH. Fine early scrimshaw whale tooth, 7″ long x about 2-3/4″ wide with a spectacular scrimshawed 3-masted schooner surrounded by fine vine patterns. The reverse side is inscribed “TAKEN/FROM A DEAD/WHALE/BY L.B.MORSE/1850”. CONDITION: Fine mellow ivory color with three or four age lines at the edge of the root cavity and another near the tip. 4-45902 (300-500)
