MASSACHUSETTS SACK-BACK WINDSOR ARMCHAIR WITH MASSACHUSETTS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PROVENANCE. Last quarter 18th century, Massachusetts. The arched crest rail joined to nine simulated bamboo spindles continuing to downswept arms with rolled grips. All joined to a shaped saddle seat raised on splayed simulated bamboo legs joined by an H-stretcher. Note: The bottom of the seat is affixed with a paper label, now within a wooden frame in pen script, “This Chair was once in use in 1797 in the Massachusetts house of Representatives, Boston.” SIZE: Back: 37-1/2″. Seat: 17″ h x 20″ w. CONDITION: Chair has been cleaned and repolished. At juncture of each arm to back a molded brass brace has been applied. Otherwise good. 7-70580 (800-1,200)
