PAVEL TCHELITCHEW (Russian, 1898-1957) “SAVONAROLA”. Gouache design sketch shows three figures with long musical horns. The figures are in gray, blue, orange and red and have black trumpets. Bottom margin has title and “P. Tchelitchew Berlin”. Upper left has “S. Pauzer?”. This painting comes from the same collection that James D. Julia sold in 2004, which had two other examples from this artist and was acquired by the family from the artist in Europe. Housed in a flat mahogany thin frame with heavy white matte. SIGHT SIZE: 14″ x 20″. CONDITION: Four tack holes, one in each corner. Some minor discoloration to background. Otherwise very good. 9-28842 (3000-6000)
