FINE JUSTICE MUSKET. NSN. Cal. 69. 39” rnd bbl. Marked “P . S . JUSTICE / PHILADA” on both lockplate and top of bbl. The “U.S.” and eagle are also on lockplate, but the inspector marks on bbl are very faint. Date “1855” is on bbl tang. Unlike other muskets of this period, the Justice muskets were mounted with brass, including the patchbox, which is not found normally on muskets. This musket has shallow rifling and sights have been added, the front one behind the bayonet lug on top of bbl. CONDITION: Gray patina on iron parts mixed with spots of light pitting and scattered surface rust. Brass has a mellow patina. Stock is fine, with minor dents and scratches.
