MASSACHUSETTS CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIR. Last quarter 18th century. Probably Boston or North Shore, the shaped crest rail terminating in scrolled ears above the pierced Gothic splat, joined to a molded trapezoidal frame fitted with a slip seat, raised on frontal acanthus-carved cabriole legs raised on well defined talon-and-ball feet, the rear legs backswept. SIZE: 37-1/2″ h. of back. 18″ h. of seat. CONDITION: With restoration to back splat proper right side, otherwise very good with old polished surfaces; seat frame original. 9-95230 (1,200-1,800)
