ENGRAVED DELUXE WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 30-30. Composite carbine consisting of an early receiver with very late front end, a model 64 floorplate and trigger guard and what appears to be a late short wood forearm with a model 64 capped pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate. 20” bbl, ramp front sight and carbine ladder sight with a saddle ring and stud in the left side of the receiver. Receiver, floorplate, lever, top tang, bolt, bbl, and bbl bands are spectacularly engraved by Karl Jagger and stocked in 3-4X walnut by Edward Kalek. Receiver is engraved with a large panel on the left side of two gold bull buffalo in prairie and mountain scene, and the right side has the Winchester rider in gold racing across a desert scene with mountains in the background. It is all surrounded with gold wire borders and extremely fine foliate and vine arabesque patterns. Stock and forearm are both nicely checkered and carved in foliate and arabesque patterns. The engraving extends 3-1/2” over the chamber and another 3” around the front sight. The serial number has been restamped. The left top edge of the receiver is engraved “PAUL JAEGER INC. JEKINTOWN. PA.” The engraving is all rendered in fine detail. SN 200000. CONDITION: Extremely fine, retaining virtually its custom finish to both metal and wood. There is a small grain check on each side of the wrist. A truly wonderful custom 94. 4-48443 JR323 (Dr. Ladd Heldenbrand Est.) (4,000-7,000)
