MAINE SHERATON CHERRY AND BIRCH 4-DRAWER CHEST. Circa 1840. Branded “RALPH HEILMAN”. The rectangular two-board top above the conforming case, fitted with four graduated long drawers, the case ends paneled, the top drawer with several punch brands. This chest believed to have been made locally in the Sangerville, Maine, area. SIZE: 40-1/2″ h. x 42″ w. x 20″ d. PROVENANCE: From an East Sangerville, Maine private collection. Bequeathed from the estate of Hanna Lane Gray of East Sangerville to Sidney and Alice Davidson, Brooklyn Heights, New York, and by descent to the present owner, a grand-daughter. CONDITION: Old dry oiled finish; hardware later replacements; structurally good. 9-94957 (700-900)
