*WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 45-70. Standard carbine with 20” tapered round bbl, full magazine, 2-bbl bands, square base, German silver front sight and carbine ladder rear sight. Receiver has a stud and ring in the left side. Wood is uncheckered with straight stock and smooth carbine steel buttplate. Accompanied by an early Winchester Gun Museum letter identifying this rifle and showing shipment on 21 July 1902. SN 124043. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 96-98% strong bright original blue. Bbl bands retain about 50% blue. Receiver retains 95-96% bright original blue, slightly thin on the bottom. Lever and hammer retain about 75% faded case colors. Wood is sound and retains most of its original finish with minor handling and use nicks and scratches with a good hand polish on the forearm. Bright shiny bore with some minor frosting in the grooves. 4-48797 JR604 (14,000-18,000)
