WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38-56. Standard grade rifle with 26” round bbl, full magazine, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Bbl is mounted with half nickel front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight, case colored receiver. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum yellow sheet identifying this rifle with shipment date of 10/18/1892. SN 69946. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains 97-98% strong original blue with pinpoints of fine scattered surface rust. Magazine tube retains about 95% finish turning plum with fine scattered pinpoints of surface rust over the bottom half. Receiver retains 96-98% original case colors, brilliant on both sides with very slight fading on the top and bottom. Receiver and bolt have fine surface discoloration. Wood is sound and retains most of its fine original finish with some minor handling and storage marks on the stock and a gouge, bruise and some small marks on the forearm.
