NEW ENGLAND PINE ONE-DRAWER BLANKET CHEST. First quarter 19th century. The rectangular hinged top with applied molded edge, fitted to the conforming case of two simulated thumbmolded long drawers above a similar working drawer, above the apron simulating a bracket, the sides with ogival cutouts. SIZE: 34″ h. x 42-1/2″ w. x 17″ d. PROVENANCE: From an East Sangerville, Maine private collection. Acquired from Robert Hall, Dover-Foxcroft, Maine in the 1950’s by the present owner’s parents. CONDITION: Structurally very good, with nice medium brown color and patina, traces of original red wash finish, with old pin hinges, lock absent. Patch in the right rear corner lid facing. Proper right rear leg cut 6″ x 1″, piece missing. 9-94676 (700-900)
