*SPRINGFIELD PHILIPPINE CONSTABULARY KRAG RIFLE. Cal. 30-40 Krag. Scarce altered carbine with 22” barrel, muzzle turned to accept 1905 bayonet, with shortened rifle stock, having a split front band with bayonet lug and stacking swivel and middle band with sling swivel and corresponding swivel in the buttstock. It has a pedestal front sight and a 2,000 yard Buffington style rear sight. The left side of the stock at the wrist has the cartouche “J.F.C.” in a rectangle. The buttplate is smooth steel with trap. Ser. 229317. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel and bands retain about 90% dull original blue. The receiver and cartridge box about 80% blue mixed with patina. The extractor retains about 90% nitre blue. The forearm has a crack, otherwise the wood is sound and retains a fine old hand rubbed patina with large scrape on the buttstock and some oil staining around the receiver. The bore is strong and bright, with some scattered light pitting. 4-48966 JR766 (1,000-1,500)
