*REMINGTON MODEL 1903 U.S.M.C. WWII SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. Usual 1903 configuration with 24” round bbl with Remington stamp and date 12-41, parkerized finish, split front band with bayonet lug, grooved middle band, type “C” stock with “FJA” cartouche, Remington cartouche and Ordinance Corp wheel on left side of the wrist. Front receiver bridge and bbl are mounted with target blocks containing a Unertl 8X target scope, serial number 2013, marked “USMC-SNIPER”. The handguard has been modified to accommodate the scope block. Rifle has usual 1903 front and rear sights. Buttstock has a checkered buttplate with trap and it has a WWII style military sling. This rifle was purchased by a previous consignor from an individual who had obtained it directly from the Quantico Marine Station Museum. He will provide a letter to the successful purchaser. SN 3023683. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains 96-97% strong original gray-green parkerizing on the metal and a fine hand rubbed patina on the wood. The target scope rings retains most of their bronze lacquer finish and the scope about 95% of its original blue with some light spots of rust on the eyepiece. Excellent optics.
