CARL BECKER (19th/20th Century) “OTHELLO THE _ _ _ OF VENICE”. Oil on canvas scene shows Othello in green and brown outfit standing on porch setting with arm raised. He stands in front of a black robed white haired man seated with a young woman in blue and white dress. Signed lower left “Carl Becker”. Housed in a fine decorated gesso gilt frame. A small paper label is seen with title on stretcher. This scene depicts Othello relating his adventures to Desdemona. A painting by Carl Ludwig Friedrich Becker was sold by Sotheby’s 11/2/99 lot #51 from the Haussner’s Restaurant Collection of the same scene. SIZE: 24” x 36”. CONDITION: Very good.
