MASSACHUSETTS FEDERAL CARVED AND INLAID TALL-CASE CLOCK. The arched molded cornice surmounted by pierced fretwork centering three ball and spire brass finials on pedestals, above the astragal arched door with inlaid fanned spandrels opening to the painted moon-phase dial depicting two moon faces alternating with a panel depicting a star-filled sky and a painting of “Lady Liberty” above the roman numeral chapter ring and calendar aperture within gilt-heightened spandrels. The brass works with time, strike, and calendar movement marked “Osborne’s Manufactory Birmingham”. The waisted case with astragal-arched thumb-molded door inlaid with a central spray within the string-inlaid outline flanked by fluted quarter-columns with brass capitals and bases above the molded box base inlaid with an oval rayed patera centered by fan spandrels on a molded base raised on bracket feet with scalloped returns. PROVENANCE: From a Blue Hill, Maine estate. SIZE: 87” h x 13-3/4” throat w x 9-1/2” d. CONDITION: Having a cleaned old surface, minor repairs to fret work, shrinkage cracks to box base.
