*CASED WINCHESTER HI-WALL TAKEDOWN SCHUTZEN RIFLE. Cal. 22LR. Fine deluxe rifle with 30” No. 3 weight oct bbl. Wind gauge globe front sight with separate spirit level clip. Top flat is mounted with target blocks. Bottom flat is marked on the bottom under the forearm “C.C. Johnson” with a number. Receiver is blue and fitted with dbl set triggers and fancy finger rest lever that has had a nickeled insert for additional finger rest soldered in place. Top tang has a mid-range thin base vernier sight. Wood is very nicely grained with checkered schnable tip forearm that has a round wood palm rest and the stock with heavy Schutzen cheek piece and capped pistol grip, with perch belly and Schutzen buttplate. Case is English style green felt lined trunk case that contains a hang tag for a Winchester single shot takedown rifle, the spirit level clip and another palm rest iron. Top of the lid has a brass name plate hand stamped “H.P. Fletcher/Newport/R.I.”. The consignor inherited the gun and was told that it had been awarded as a shooting prize by the Governor of New York. SN 118695. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 95-97% fine custom blue, has been relined. Forearm retains most of a dark oil finish. Stock is sound and also retains most of its fine custom finish. Receiver retains about 95% fine restored blue finish. Bright shiny bore, good mechanics. Front trigger has been modified but functions. Case is worn and dark, relined, replaced straps and damaged hinge. 4-47875 JR534 (1,750-3,250)
