TWO EARLY CARVED OAK CONTINENTAL SIDE CHAIRS. Both have plank seat and fancy carved double splat backs which are slightly different. Scrolled finials at top of side posts and boldly turned front stretchers. Block and turned front legs with double box stretcher. Probably early 18th Century, possibly earlier. SIZE: 40-1/2” and 41-1/2” h; 16” and 18” seat h. CONDITION: Lower chair has damage at bottom of feet and old repairs. Other has metal braces on the back posts and is fitted with wood wheels. 9-29145 (400-600)
