UNSIGNED (Late 19th Century) SAMSON & DELILAH. Oil on canvas scene shows young man wearing ivy wreath in hair next to scantily clad woman holding musical lyre in a classical interior setting. The canvas is stretched rectangular but painted for an oval frame. The back of the canvas in old writing “H M Williams”? Housed in a pierced carved wood gilt frame with gilt oval matte. SIZE: Stretcher is 23” x 29”. Sight size is 21-3/4” x 27-3/4”. CONDITION: 1” scrape and small hole, surface dirt. Otherwise good. 9-26120 (1,000-2,000)
