NEW ENGLAND CHIPPENDALE MAPLE CHEST OF DRAWERS. Last quarter 18th century. The rectangular molded and chamfered top above the conforming dovetailed case, fitted with four graduated thumbmolded drawers, raised on four bracket feet with shaped returns. SIZE: 37″ h. x 36-1/2″ case w. x 17-3/4″ d. PROVENANCE: From an East Sangerville, Maine private collection. Acquired from Robert Hall, Dover-Foxcroft, Maine in the 1950’s by the present owner’s parents. CONDITION: Top with two plugged holes of unexplained origin; top and base appear original to case. Drawers with old period hardware (re-drilled, not original). Scrubbed old finish, repolished. 9-94674 (800-1,200)
