WINCHESTER SPECIAL ORDER MODEL 1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-75. Standard grade rifle with 28” oct bbl, full magazine, Beach’s front sight and rare platinum line 7-leaf express sight. Single set trigger, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate with factory type sling loops. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum yellow sheet identifying this rifle as originally shipped 11/17/88, returned and reshipped 9/19/94. The 7-leaf sight is not specifically mentioned, nor are the swivels, however, there is no doubt that this sight is original to this rifle. Sling loops may have been added in 1894 when the rifle was returned. SN 57885. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl and magazine tube retain about 50% blue turning brown with the balance a light patina. Rear sight is fine with one loose leaf that has some light dings. Receiver retains 60-65% thin original blue, strong in the sheltered areas. Wood is sound, missing a chip at the upper tang and retains a fine hand rubbed patina, probably an old refinish. Forearm has a gouge and there are a couple of small ones on the buttstock. Strong dark bore. 4-48640 JR550 (3,500-4,500)
