WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 SADDLE RING CARBINE.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 45-75. Standard carbine with 22” bbl, square base front sight and 1876 marked reverse mounted carbine ladder rear sight. Full length forearm with single bbl band and steel nose cap. Wood is uncheckered with straight stock and smooth carbine buttplate without trap. There is a stud and ring in the left side of receiver. 2nd type receiver with screwed on dust cover rail. Left side of the bbl and left front edge of receiver have British proofs. Accompanied by an early Buffalo Bill Historical Center letter identifying this rifle with listed shipping date of July 31, 1882 along with 19 other carbines of the same specifications to the same order. SN 24169. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains about 95% strong bright original blue. Blue on the inside of the sight is brilliant. Receiver retains about 95% strong bright original blue overall with some light scratches on right sideplate and three rows of chemical spotting on the left side. The spotting removed the blue which is now turned to a brown patina. Wood is sound and retains 95-97% original finish with light handling and use marks and a few scattered bruises. There is a gouge on the left wrist and another on the left side of the forearm with corresponding dings on the metal. Brilliant shiny bore. 4-48803 JR610 (13,000-18,000)
