WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 44CF. Standard carbine with 20” round bbl, full magazine, uncheckered wood with straight stock and brass rifle buttplate with trap. There is a saddle ring and staple in the left side of receiver. Forearm has a hole through the tip just in front of the bbl band. SN 159978. CONDITION: Fair. No original finish remains. Iron is a silver metal patina with moderate to heavy pitting. Receiver is polished and worn with numerous small nicks and dings, battered screws and a replacement top tang screw. Rear sight is a homemade replacement. Wood, with the previously noted hole in the forearm, is otherwise sound having numerous nicks and scratches and a large cut on the right side of the buttstock. Bottom of the buttstock has a filled hole. Fair bore with strong rifling, dark with pitting. 4-48631 JR559 (2,250-2,750)
