AFRICAN MARKED WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44RF Henry. Standard rifle with 24” oct. bbl, full magazine, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent brass buttplate with trap. Stock is fitted with a sling loop and the foreend cap with a sling eye. Top of receiver, in front of the ejection port, is stamped “K.T / 1” and “CG” with the British broad arrow in between, stamped back to back in two places reading from both left and right. Buttplate is marked with the serial number inside the toe. SN 37509. CONDITION: Fair to good. No original finish remains. Four or five spots of heavy pitting on the left side of bbl and magazine tube with light fine pitting elsewhere. All the metal has been cleaned, brass polished. There are wrench marks on receiver. Loading gate is a replacement. Front sight blade is loose in the base and the rear sight blade is broken and missing. Wood is sound but has been refinished. Bore is worn and dark with visible rifling and a ring about midpoint. 4-48632 JR558 (2,750-3,750)
