NULL KENTUCKY FULL STOCK RIFLE. NSN. 40 Cal. 37” oct bbl. Marked “C?NULL” on top of the bbl. The rifle appears to be Western Bedford/Somerset County but Null worked in Springboro, Ohio circa 1860. A large, well engraved, silver eagle is inlaid behind the cheekpiece on the left side of the stock. It is holding a shield in one claw and has a banner with “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in the other. The stock has incised carving below the cheekpiece with raised carving extending from the cheekpiece to the front of the comb. CONDITION: Fine. Blue/brown patina on the bbl and lock. Stock retains most of its orig red varnish. Mechanically fine. 4-59249 FS741 (2,500-3,000)
