PIERCE ALL BRASS WHALING GUN. 7/8” bore. SN: 806. 19-1/2” rnd bbl. Unmarked except for SN. The number 1 has been stamped on several pieces but the SN is on the left side of the bbl. These crudely made harpoon guns were made by Frank Brown for his uncle, Ebenezer Pierce, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, around 1882. These are the last of the whaling guns and weigh about 25 pounds. The lever on the right side of the action cocks the internal hammer. The one on the left side opens the breech. CONDITION: Very good. 4-52668 FS191 (2,500-3,500)
