RIPLEY HALF-STOCK RIFLE.

RIPLEY HALF-STOCK RIFLE. Cal. 60 Smoothbore. 36” octagonal bbl, marked “J. H. RIPLEY & CO / 1840” on top of the bbl and the same without the date on the bbl tang. This rifle was altered to shotgun and the wood rib, pipes and ramrod removed. A large chip has been replaced at the toe of the butt. Another rear sight was once installed at the rear of the bbl but this dovetail has been filled with lead. The nipple is also missing. CONDITION: Rust/brown patina overall with moderate to heavy pitting at the rear of the bbl. Wood has several scrapes and cracks. Action needs work. 4-52824 FS132 (300-600)
