CONVERTED WHEELER INDIAN TRADE MUSKET. Cal. 62. NSN. 36-1/8” part oct bbl. Marked “WHEELER” in an upward arc vertically at rear of lockplate. The seated fox in a circle is marked in front of the hammer. London proof marks appear on left quarter flat of bbl on either side of wheel over “RW” maker’s mark. There is also a large “P” stamped on conversion drum. Sideplate, trigger guard, bbl pin escutcheons, and ramrod pipes are brass. Buttplate is iron. Sideplate is not engraved. CONDITION: Smooth brown patina with light pitting at breech. Brass has a dark patina. Stock has a repaired crack through bbl pin. Ramrod is a replacement.
