UNIDENTIFIED MILITARY-TYPE KENTUCKY MUSKET. Cal. 52 Smoothbore. 47-3/8” oct to 16-sided to rnd bbl, possibly had a bayonet at one time. It is marked in script “Proved” on the upper left quarter flat. The Ketland lock has been converted to percussion. The buttplate is dated 1801 on the top tang. CONDITION: Has seen considerable use. Rust/brown patina overall with very heavy pitting at the breech. Wood is shattered at the wrist and repaired with nails and brass wire. A nice appearing contemporary repair. Iron ramrod appears to be original but the center pipe is missing.
