FINE CLASSICAL ROSEWOOD AND ORMOLU CARD TABLE, PROBABLY NEW YORK. Circa 1815. The rectangular crossbanded hinged top with canted corners swiveling on the conforming frieze with line inlays, the corners mounted with cast-brass wreaths, joined to the base of four faux-grained colonnettes mounted on a rosewood-veneered rectangular plinth, with opposing cast floral rosettes and anthemion leaf cartouches, raised on four outswept legs with ogival shoulders, contrasting string inlays terminating in cast-brass clawfoot casters. Literature: For a similar table in mahogany, see American Furniture, The Federal Period by Charles F. Montgomery, fig. 318, p. 340. SIZE: 29-1/2″ h. x 36″ w. x 17-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Very good overall with old patina and original surfaces. Ormolu mounts and casters original. Old iron reinforcements present to strengthen leg attachments.
