NEW YORK FEDERAL CHERRY AND MAPLE SLANT-LID DESK. Circa 1820. The rectangular dovetailed case with hinged sloping thumbmolded lid supported by lopers, opening to an interior fitted with an arrangement of multiple drawers above a row of valanced pigeonholes, centering document drawers and prospect drawer, all of figured maple, over four long graduated drawers with cockbeaded edges, all with figured maple fronts, the case continuing to cut-out French feet centering a scalloped and shaped apron. SIZE: 44″ h. x 39-3/4″ w. x 20-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Very good overall, retaining original surfaces. Old splits in lid. Old hardware, posts in original holes. 9-95273 (3,000-5,000)
