ROBBINS & LAWRENCE PEPPERBOX. Cal. 31. SN 1556. 4-1/2” ribbed bbls. This is the first type with bbls that come off for loading. One of the nipples is missing. Marked “ROBBINS & LAWRENCE CO.” on one bbl rib, “WINDSOR VT” on the next, and “LEONARDS PATENT 1849.” on the bottom one. The breech is octagonal with vent holes on the top two-quarter flats. CONDITION: Bbls are badly battered towards the front but good from the middle to the rear. Frame is smooth. Rosewood grips are fine. Hinge has been welded.
