LOUIS MCCLELLAN POTTER (American, 1873-1912) LARGE BRONZE FIGURAL GROUP OF A NATIVE ESKIMO WITH RIFLE FOLLOWING FOUR DOGS. This fabulous bronze has a 16” h Eskimo in fur coat with a large collar and a fur hat with earmuffs. He holds a rifle in his right hand and is wearing mitts. Three Husky type dogs are seen directly in front and one beside. A naturalistic base is signed on the side “Louis Potter 1905”. Also signed on top corner “Copyright 1905 by Gorham Mfg Co.”. A nice period bronze with exceptional subject matter. PROVENANCE: From a Pennsylvania Estate. SIZE: 18” h x 17” l x 10” w. CONDITION: Very good. 9-29388 (5000-10000)
