SMITH & WESSON #3 AMERICAN 2ND MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 44 American. Blued finish, 8” keyhole ribbed bbl, pinned steel front sight and 2-pc smooth walnut grips. There is a screw in the lanyard stud hole. Serial number is followed by a star indicating a factory refinish. Left side of the grip frame is stamped “7.12” apparently the date of refinish. SN 17902. CONDITION: Excellent as refinished. All matching except the grips which are unnumbered, retaining 85-90% strong bright blue with some flaking on the bbl and cylinder and light pitting under the finish on the frame. Bbl, latch and cylinder are stamped with frame assembly number. Grips are outstanding retaining most of their original factory varnish, probably installed at the time of refinish. Bright shiny bore with fine pitting, crisp mechanics. 4-48011 JR93 (Anderson Collection) (1,250-2,250)
