HOUGHTON PERCUSSION HALF-STOCK RIFLE. Cal. 36. 31” octagonal bbl, marked “H.W. HOUGHTON / NORWAY ME.” under the 10-1/2” rear sight. This is a typical Maine gun with daisy head patchbox and light wire inlay. There is an eagle on the cheekpiece. It is also marked “CAST-STEEL / 1840” on the left quarter flat. The forearm has a horn tip. The ramrod is a replacement. CONDITION: Smooth brown patina on the bbl and rear sight, gray patina on the lock. Brass has a mellow patina. Stock has been lightly cleaned. 4-52625 FS118 (800-1,500)
