GEORGE CLINTON (1739-1812) SIGNED DOCUMENT. Vice President, soldier and politician. 7-3/4” x 6” document signed, March 21, 1791. “In Council of Revision.”. “…it does not appear improper to the council that the bill entitled ‘An Act extending the law for the Partition of Land to the town of New Paltz…’ should become a law of the state”. There is an autograph order at the bottom signed by Dewitt Clinton. George Clinton served as the first Governor of New York from 1777-1795, as a member of the State Assembly in 1800 and 1801, and as the third Governor from 1801 to 1804. He went on to serve as the fourth Vice President of the United States, first from 1805 to 1809 under Thomas Jefferson and then from 1809 until his death under James Madison. He was the first Vice President to die in office. 9-71979 (300-500)
