SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL #3 LARGE FRAME REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Russian. Blued finish, 8” keyhole ribbed bbl with small lettering and short address. Caliber is marked on the left side of the bbl and it is fitted with 2-pc monogrammed hard rubber grips. Grip frame underneath the grips on both sides is stamped in tiny letters “J.P. Lower/Sons/Denver Colo”, a famous Western distributor and gun store. SN 29975. CONDITION: Fine. Retains 40-50% bright original blue strong in the sheltered areas with the balance silver-gray with scattered light pitting. Hammer retains 60-70 % case coloring while the trigger and trigger guard is gray. The number scratched under the right grip indecipherable. Cylinder is numbered to this revolver while the latch is numbered to another revolver and the bbl is unnumbered. Grips show heavy wear and have turned chocolate. Strong bright bore with light pitting, mechanics are fine. Undoubtedly a Western frontier revolver. 4-47970 JR58 (Anderson Collection) (1,250-2,250)
