SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL #3 LARGE FRAME REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Russian. Nickel finish, 6-1/2” keyhole ribbed bbl, pinned half moon steel front sight, 2-pc smooth pearl grips with a lanyard loop through the serial number in the butt leaving only the last number visible. The serial number is stamped in the same size numbers as is on the other parts on the right side of the grip frame. SN 3355. CONDITION: Good, plus. All matching except the grips which are unnumbered. Retains about 75% strong original nickel on the frame and bbl with the balance a dark patina. Cylinder retains about 30% nickel. Left side of the muzzle has been filed away for some unknown reason. Extractor pawl appears to be a replacement and the first tooth on the gear has been filed. Hammer retains about 50% case colors with the balance patina. Grips are fine with small chips on the heels. Bore is strong with moderate to heavy pitting, fine mechanics. 4-47989 JR74 (Anderson Collection) (1,000-2,000)
