SMITH & WESSON #3 FIRST MODEL RUSSIAN REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Russian. Transition type, blued finish 8” keyhole ribbed bbl with English lettering in one line, extra curved grip frame with a lanyard loop in the butt. 2-pc walnut grips are serial numbered to this revolver. Inside the right grips is carved the initials “GRB” and inside the left grip has been pantagraphed “MONROE HILLHOUSE/VERONA, MO.” SN 8729. CONDITION: Good to very good, all matching. Retains about 30% thinning original blue on the frame, strong in sheltered areas with traces on the bbl and cylinder. Bbl and most of the cylinder, along with the grip frame, are mostly a gray-brown patina. Mechanics are good but need timing, strong bore with good shine and scattered pitting. Slightly battered screws. Grips are fine with minor dings and scratches. 4-47910 JR18 (Anderson Collection) (1,750-2,750)
